HOLIDAY EGG NOG

Egg Nog is a drink that you will only find in stores around the holidays. I love Egg Nog, if I could get my hands on it all through the year, I would most definitely buy some. A friend of mine said why not make your own, and that is exactly what I did, and it turned out delicious, so now I don’t have to wait for the holidays anymore to drink this delectable drink.

This recipe is so easy to make, you just must be very careful when you temper your Eggs. Follow the directions carefully in my video and yours will turn out great, because you do not want to drink your Egg Nog with scrambled eggs floating in your drink. In my recipe I added Ground Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and Cloves, but if you do not like one or two of these, then just leave them out, it will still taste great.

This Egg Nog recipe is amazing, try it for yourself, you’ll be glad that you did. Also, in the video I showed you how to make the Egg Nog (Adult Version). So, if you are serving this to children or someone that does not drink, then stop and just pour it in a pitcher and chill it for about 3 hours. But if you want the Adult Version, then add Rum, Whiskey, or Bourbon right before you pour it in the pitcher, then chill and Enjoy!

HOLIDAY EGG NOG

INGREDIENTS

2 Cups of Whole Milk

1 Cup of Heavy Cream

1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon

1 Teaspoon of Nutmeg

1/4 Teaspoon of Ground Ginger

8 Whole Cloves or 1 Teaspoon of Ground Cloves

1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

6 Egg Yolks

3/4 Cup of Granulated Sugar

DIRECTIONS

In Large bowl, blend together, the Milk, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger and Cloves. Transfer to medium saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat to combine seasoning, remove from heat and set aside. In another bowl, add Eggs and Sugar, blending well until the Sugar is well combined with the Eggs.

To Temper the Eggs, add small amounts of Milk mixture to the Eggs and Sugar mixture, a little at a time consistently stirring until all Milk mixture is added. Return all mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat until the mixture begins to thicken. You will know it is thick enough when it adheres to the back of the spoon.

Turn off heat and stir in the Heavy Cream and Vanilla Extract blending well. The Egg Nog is complete. Transfer to a pitcher, seal the lid and chill for at least 3 hours. After Egg Nog is chilled, pour in serving glasses and top with whipped cream and sprinkle with Nutmeg or Cinnamon to garnish. To serve as an Adult Drink, add Rum, Whiskey or Bourbon and do the same chilling and serving process. Enjoy!
