Pizza is known to be one of the most popular foods worldwide, it can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or as a snack. There are so many different variations of Pizza, it can be made with tomato sauce, white sauce, and even barbeque sauce, there are even seafood pizzas and pizzas with mashed potatoes or buffalo chicken, and I am sure you are familiar with pineapples or anchovies. Whether you eat it Italian style, or Chicago style, or just your style, you cannot go wrong with this all-time favorite.
There are many ways of cooking pizza, in restaurants pizzas are usually made in Brick Ovens, or the type of cooking system where the pizza is placed on a conveyer belt, and it goes through the oven slowly and comes out the other end of the machine completely cooked, I know you have seen these before, some sandwich shops have them. Another popular way of cooking pizza is in a convention oven or grill, therefore I decided to try out my new Ninja Foodi Smart XL grill to cook my pizza.
As you will see in my video, I used Pillsbury Pizza Crust, I have used this crust many times before when I would make pizza in my oven, but when I prepared it in my Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill, the pizza crust taste all together different then when I prepared it in my oven. Meaning the crust came out light, airy, and crispy, it was not doughy or soft in the center the crust cooked perfectly and evenly all over. It was easy to do, the only challenge I had was getting the crust on the grill because the dough was too soft, I would advise you to use the pizza dough right from the refrigerator while it is chilled, you should be able to handle it with ease.
I could go on and on about pizza and what to put on it, but I am not, when it comes to making pizza, do you, what ever you like to eat on your pizza, then put it on, there is no right or wrong way to make a pizza. Fix it the way you and your family likes it, you can’t go wrong, if you don’t have a Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill and you’re thinking about getting one, let me tell you, there are so many other recipes that you can make in this grill, I guarantee you are going to love it. Just in case you do not have this grill then, pre-bake your crust for about 5+7 minutes before adding on your toppings, this will insure a crispier crust. PIZZA IN THE NINJA FOODI SMART XL GRILL
INGREDIENTS
1 Pillsbury Pizza Crust
1 16oz Jar of Pizza Sauce
2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
4oz of Pepperoni
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 Red Onion Sliced
1/4 Green Bell Pepper Sliced
1/2 Cup Sliced Mushrooms cut in half
DIRECTIONS
To Preheat the Ninja Foodi Grill – Turn on, Select Grill, Set to Hi, select 10 min, the grill should be on these settings when you select grill, but double check anyway. Unroll Pizza Crust, I recommend doing this right from the refrigerator while the dough is chilled. It will be easier to work with, in the video my dough set out and was soft and hard to handle so, using the dough slightly chilled will be easier.
Unroll dough on a board or mat that has been slightly greased with about a tablespoon of Olive Oil. Then after dough is unrolled grease the top of crust with other tablespoon of Olive oil, then when grill beeps and says add food, place the crust on the grill grate and spread dough evenly on grill grate, be careful the grate will be hot.
Spread the pizza sauce all over the dough, leaving the edges of the dough free without sauce, then add cheese, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Then add the pepperoni and sprinkle the top of the pizza with a little salt to taste. Bake for 5 minutes, check to see if toppings are done, if not continue cooking 1-2 minutes, the pizza should be done. Remove pizza from grill and slice into desired pieces. Enjoy!
