SUPER CHEESESTEAK HOAGIE

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

Sandwich time in our house is always a fun time, sometimes we make chicken salad sandwiches, fish sandwiches or only plain old cold cut sandwiches, whatever we have a taste for that day. These Cheesesteak hoagies is most definitely an all time favorite in my house.

I love making these and they are so filling, when making these you can serve them with French Fries or just by themselves and making them the way I did in the video, placing them on a footlong hoagie bun, I would say that you may not need a side to go with this monster hoagie.

My mom always told me that the secret to making a great sandwich is to make it on good bread. Have you ever ordered a sandwich from a deli or sandwich shop and wished that it were placed on a different kind of bread then what they served it on? That has happened to me a several times before, and I was not pleased at all, because some breads just do not hold up under the pressure of all the topping that will go on it, causing it to fall apart, of get soggy, and when that happens, I lose interest in eating it.

So anytime you make a sandwich that has a lot of toppings, make sure you get a bun that can hold all the goodness you are going to pile on it. In my video I used a Footlong Italian Bun that I got from Sam’s Club, they also sell them in Costco’s, and if you do not live where these stores are located, then try your nearest bakery.

The SteakEz that I used in this video also came from Sam’s Club, and it cooks up so tender and believe me it is Sirloin Steak, or like I said in the video you can also use Thinly sliced Ribeye steak, which I normally use but they did not have any, so I used the SteakEz. But whatever you decide to use, it should taste amazing. You can go by my video and recipe and add your own favorite toppings but remember find a nice crusty bun. Enjoy

SUPER CHEESESTEAK HOAGIES

INGREDIENTS

2 Ponds Thinly Sliced Sirloin or Ribeye (Or Steak-EZ)

1 Green Bell Pepper (Sliced)

1 Medium Onion (Sliced)

1 8 OZ Pack of Mushrooms (Sliced)

2 Footlong Hoagie Buns

1 Teaspoon of Onion Powder

1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder

Salt to Taste

Black Pepper to Taste

1 Stick of Butter

Cheese of Your Choice

DIRECTIONS

In Medium skillet over medium heat, add 2 Tablespoons of Butter and Sauté Bell Peppers, Onions and Mushrooms cook until nice and soft, remove from skillet and set aside. Add 2 more Tablespoons of Butter to pan and cook Steak sprinkling with Salt and Pepper to taste, cutting Steak in pieces while cooking until lightly brown on all sides.

Preheat Oven to Broil on Low. Slice Hoagie Buns and Melt the remaining Butter in small dish and spoon all over the insides of the Hoagie Buns. Place on sheet pan and place under Broiler until lightly brown, this should only take about 2-3 minutes, but keep check on the buns so they will not burn, when they get lightly brown remove them from the oven.

Now it’s time to prepare your Hoagie, add the meat to the bun, add cheese and put back under broiler to melt cheese about 2 minutes, remove from oven and add Sautéed vegetables, and if desired, lettuce, and tomatoes, topping with Mayo. Enjoy!
